Al-Barakah Foundation, Inc. is a 501c3 that opened to the community in 2020. It is dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and academic excellence within our community. Our mission is to provide comprehensive Islamic education, preserve the Arabic language, and nurture a deep connection to the Qur'an and Sunnah, building a united Ummah grounded in faith and good conduct.

Sheikh Boubakeur Amiri
Born in Algeria, he memorized the entire Qur’an at age 11. At age 15, he rigorously studied Fiqh, Muwatta Imam Malik, with Dr. Abdullah and received a certificate in Muwattah Imam Malik at age 17.
After completing his Fiqh certificate, he studied the Book of Hadith by Imam Muslim. At age 18, he strengthened his Islamic knowledge and intensely studied Qur’an and Arabic in Syria for over a decade. He received many ijaazat for Qira’at, Imam Warsh, Imam Hafs, and Imam Qalun. He completed studies in the following books: Al-Muwatta, Sahih Muslim, Sahih al-Bukhari, Al-Umm / Al-Mukhtasar al-Shafi, Usul al-Fiqh by Imam al-Qarafi, The Muqaddimah of Ibn Khaldun, Shudhur al-Dhahab, Matn al-Ajurrumiyyah, Alfiyyat Ibn Malik, and Tuhfat al-Atfal.
In 2004, he came to Indiana on an R-1 visa to MTI-School of Knowledge and the Masjid Al-Fajr community. From 2004 to 2015, he taught Qur’an memorization, Arabic, Hadith, and Islamic Studies. He led daily salat, taraweeh, jumu’ah, and community service events. He also led khutbahs at ISNA and traveled for out of state Islamic conferences. In 2013, he created Al-Rahma Foundation in Indianapolis where he dedicated himself to teaching our community Qur’an and Arabic after school and on weekends from 2013 - 2017.
In 2017, he created Al-Barakah Foundation with the intention of continuing Islamic education and to unite the community in a welcoming manner so they may benefit from studying Islam, Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, and receive our religious services such as salaat, Jumu’ah, taraweeh, salaat-ul Eid, and community events, alhamdulillah.
In 2023, the Al-Barakah community successfully fundraised to purchase the building next door to provide our community a daycare (Bright Child Care) with adab, akhlaq, and Islamic principles. His goal with Bright Child Care is to teach children from the foundation up with akhlaq, adab, Qur’an, and Arabic.
In 2026, his dream of having an Islamic school was active, alhamdulillah. Alward Academy opened on the west side of Indianapolis, ma shaa Allah. His vision for the school is to teach the basics of Islamic knowledge, the Arabic language, the love and understanding of the Qur’an, the importance of good conduct, the belief in Allah SWT, to worship Allah SWT, to follow the sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.S., and academic excellence so they may prosper in the dunya and akhirah. Alward Academy is also sadaqah for his mother who passed away in 2026, Allah yerhama. The school is incorporating Sheikh Boubakeur’s Islamic K-12 Education Program that he has crafted meticulously over the last 20 years to one day teach many children, in shaa Allah.
His vision for his community is to help them be united as one Ummah. He says, “If it is good, it is from Allah SWT and if it is bad, it is from me. I ask Allah SWT to accept my efforts.” Ameen!
While in Indiana, he has helped many people become hafeths, approximately 60+, ma shaa Allah. May Allah accept and protect Al-Barakah Foundation’s efforts and grant us all jannah. Ameen!
